East Pyne lawn

In the summer shade of a century-old sugar maple, Scott Burton’s sculpture “Public Table” awaits the return of students, who are drawn to the flat surface to sit and talk. “Oval with Points,” in the background, also gets its share of human contact: After its installation in 1971, people quickly burnished its curves by sitting and climbing on it, to the delight of its creator, Henry Moore.
