Princeton named Steve Dolan the head coach of MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY Aug. 28. Dolan had been an assistant coach since 2004.
Former Princeton rower JESSE KARMAZIN ’07 won a silver medal at the Paralympics in Beijing Sept. 11, rowing for the United States in the mixed four with coxswain. Karmazin, who was born without a right foot and ankle, competes with the assistance of a prosthetic leg.
Professional kayaker DUSTIN URBAN ’07 placed third in the World Cup of Freestyle Kayaking, a three-event series held on three European courses between Aug. 15 and 31.
Amateur weightlifter STEVE LAMB ’44 set another age-group world record July 6, deadlifting 325 pounds, 15 pounds more than his previous best. Lamb competes in the age-85-to-89 masters division.
Longtime women’s squash coach BETTY HOWE CONSTABLE h ’36 died Sept. 9 at age 83. An accomplished player and member of the College Squash Association and United States Squash halls of fame, Constable coached seven individual national champions and led Princeton to a 117–15 record in a 20-year career that included 10 undefeated seasons. She also helped to create the Howe Cup, the national collegiate championship of women’s squash. After retiring in 1991, Constable remained close to Princeton’s program, attending matches and inviting the team to her home for dinner during intersession. “It was always her baby,” said current coach Gail Ramsay. “She always wanted it to be the best that it could be.”
