A native of northern New Jersey, Don graduated with high honors from Butler High School. Freshman and sophomore years he fenced and played IAA softball and became a member of Prospect Club. As an Army pilot he flew a B-57 that was fitted for reconnaissance. During his 20-year military career, he was stationed in many bases stateside and in Korea, Japan, England, Spain, and Vietnam. While flying missions in Vietnam, he received the Air Medal and two Distinguished Flying Crosses.
Don earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics at the University of Nebraska. After his Air Force discharge, he settled in Charlottesville, Va., and was employed in civil service in military intelligence at the Army Foreign Science and Technology Center.
We have had no record of Don’s whereabouts or an address, but thank his good friend and Princeton classmate Don Cantrell and his wife, Delores Cantrell, for helpful information. Our heartfelt sympathy to Don’s widow, Beverly; daughters Holly Yeuell and Karen Tarbell; son Bruce; brothers Ralph and Richard; sister Janice Schulte; and three grandsons.
