Holly McGarvie ’09 and Kraftin Schreyer ’09 scored one goal each as FIELD HOCKEY shut out Providence, 2¬–0, Oct. 5 to win its sixth consecutive game. Princeton, which has ranked as high as No. 12 in the national coaches’ poll, dropped its next contest, 5–0, to No. 2 Maryland Oct. 14. Three Princeton starters — Kaitlyn Perrelle ’10, Katie Reinprecht ’12, and Kathleen Sharkey ’12 — played for the gold-medal-winning under-21 U.S. national team at the Junior Pan-American Tournament in Mexico City Oct. 5–12.

The defending Ivy League champion WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL team swept its first three Ivy opponents (Penn, Columbia, and Cornell) to improve to 9–2.

MEN’S WATER POLO
won two of five matches against ranked opponents in California Oct. 10–12, beating Pacific and Redlands and losing to Southern Cal, Stanford, and Long Beach State.

Susannah Aboff  ’09, Marlowe Boukis ’09, and Michelle Grilli ’10 each finished in the top six as WOMEN’S GOLF won the ECAC Championships at Kiskiack Golf Club in Williamsburg, Va., Oct. 4–5. Aboff was the tournament’s individual champion.

MEN’S and WOMEN’S BASKETBALL will open their seasons Nov. 14. The Princeton men host Central Michigan at 7 p.m. in Jadwin Gym, while the women will face Fordham in the Bronx at 6 p.m.
