Dave, the former owner of a major communications firm in Colorado, died of multiple causes Oct. 15, 2007, in Aurora, Colo. He was 87.
Born in Los Angeles, he prepared at Menlo School in California, where he was active in dramatics, golf, and student government. At Princeton he was a vice president of Theatre Intime, active in intramural golf, and a member of Tower Club. He graduated with honors in economics.
He saw action in France and Germany with the Army in World War II, entered the investment business after the war, then joined the Navy in 1951. He served two years in the Korean War, separating as a lieutenant commander.
Dave became the owner of a communications firm specializing in intercom, public address, and background music. He remained as COO after its sale until his retirement from active business in 1992. He was a golfer and a Colorado history buff.
He married Loretta Bertrand, his second wife, in 1964. She died in 1999. His survivors include two sons, David C. III and Donald K. Dodge; three grandsons; and a sister, Lu Gray Strickland.
