Actor, director: Ferrer is honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6541 Hollywood Blvd. He won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe award for reprising his theatrical lead in the film version of Cyrano de Bergerac (1950), was nominated for two Academy Awards for Moulin Rouge (1952) and Joan of Arc (1948), and was nominated for three Tony awards. Of his many film credits, the best known are The Fifth Musketeer (1979), Ship of Fools (1965), The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965), The Great Man (1956), and The Caine Mutiny (1954). Ferrer’s TV work included appearances on popular series such as Another World (1989–96), Newhart (1985–87), Matlock (1986), Fantasy Island (1983), The Love Boat (1981), Magnum, P.I. (1981), Starsky and Hutch (1976), and Kojak (1973). Ferrer died in 1992.
