He prepared for Princeton at Phillips Exeter Academy. At Princeton he was a member of the football, hockey, and track teams; the Glee Club, choir, and orchestra; and Cannon Club. He majored in economics and graduated with honors and election to Phi Beta Kappa.

Jack earned a degree from Harvard Law School and for a short time practiced law in Boston. In 1954 he moved to Albuquerque, N.M., where he practiced commercial litigation, employment law, real-estate law, and general corporate law for the rest of his working career. He was a senior partner in the regional firm of Kemp, Smith, Duncan & Hammond. He also served in the New Mexico legislature for eight years. With his wife, Sondra, he enjoyed travel, skiing, and music.

Jack is survived by Sondra. Our 50th-reunion book indicates that he had five sons, Bill, Sebastian, Nick, Larry, and Bob; three daughters, Clarissa, Miranda, and Janice; and eight grandchildren. The class extends its deepest sympathy to them on their loss.
