Dave died March 15, 2008.

The son of missionary parents, he was born in Landour, Mussoorie, India.

He prepared at the Haverford School and Mount Hermon (Mass.) School. At Princeton, Dave majored in history and was active in intramural sports.

Entering the Army in July 1941, he first qualified as a radar technician before becoming an aviation cadet in December 1942. Assigned to be a navigator in October 1943, he was en route to England in April 1944, when his plane crashed and he suffered a back injury that ended his aviation career.

Making a remarkable recovery, he joined the Office of Strategic Services and served in India and Burma until separating in November 1945.

After earning his law degree at the University of Florida in 1948, Dave established a successful practice in Frostproof, Fla.

Dave was predeceased by his wife, Helen Rogers Higginbottom; his two sons, David and Sam; and his daughter, Nan.
