Pete, a lifelong, strong supporter of Princeton, died Jan. 17, 2009.
He prepared at Penn Charter School, following his relatives W.N. Kimball 1904 and Harold Kimball 1909 to Princeton. He majored in politics, was captain of the soccer team, and was a member of Quadrangle Club.
During World War II, Pete served as a Navy officer in the Pacific theater and fought in the battles of Midway and Leyte Gulf. He served on two destroyers, the U.S.S. Black and the U.S.S. Benham, receiving a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and commendation ribbon while attaining the rank of lieutenant commander. After the war, he remained devoted to the Navy as a reservist.
Pete spent 37 years with American Bank Note Co. in Philadelphia, New York, and San Francisco, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed his late retirement years in Santa Barbara, Calif.
While on the West Coast, he served as chairman of Princeton’s Annual Giving. His lifelong passions were Princeton, the Navy, his family, tennis, squash, and politics.
He is survived by his wife, Juliana; two daughters, Sarah Kimball Petito and Betsy Kimball; four stepchildren; and two grandsons. To them all, his classmates offer their deepest sympathies.
