Tom Tucker died Jan. 4, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 35.

Tom was raised in Calgary, Canada, where he flourished as a talent on the ice at a young age. At Princeton, Tom played varsity hockey and rugby and distinguished himself through his work ethic and intensity. He was an active member of Cottage Club and Zeta Psi fraternity and created the on-campus video store Pflix.

After graduation, Tom worked in investment banking and private equity in the United States, Australia, and England before returning to Calgary in 2005 to start his own private-equity fund, BT Energy, within Brickburn Asset Management.

Following Tom’s cancer diagnosis in 2004, he created a foundation called T4T Racing for Research (www.t4tcan.com) in order to raise awareness and money for brain-tumor research worldwide. In 2005, true to his character, Tom completed three Ironman Triathlons, including the world championships in Kona, Hawaii, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars in doing so.

Tom is survived by his wife, Kim, who was his high school sweetheart; daughter Annabella; and unborn son, Jake. The family would like to thank all the Princeton alumni who have reached out since Tom’s passing; the love and support does not go unnoticed.

The class sends deepest sympathy to Tom’s family.
