Robert Parry Rye died April 23, 2008.  

He was born in Wilmette, Ill., and also lived in Montclair, N.J. He prepared at Montclair Academy, Newark Academy, and the Hun School. At Princeton, Rye majored in biology and was a member of Cannon Club.  

After graduation Rye resided in India, Ceylon, and various Pacific islands while employed by the California Texas Oil Co. In 1941, Rye married Frances Holmes Halsted. From 1943 to 1946 he served in the Navy as an intelligence officer attached to the Southeast Asia command and later as the officer in charge of the Southeast Asia Division of Naval Intelligence in Washing-

ton. He was discharged from the Navy as a lieutenant commander and then rejoined California Texas Oil Co. as an assistant manager.  

From 1947 to 1968, he owned and operated the Rye Insurance Agency in Fort Wayne, Ind., and Rogers City, Mich. Rye also went into the cattle business and raised polled Herefords in Rogers City. His hobbies included hunting and farming.
