Mike died Jan. 5, 2009, at the age of 81.

He prepared for Princeton at Millbrook School and majored in mechanical engineering. He was captain of the 150-pound crew, a member of the Glee Club and Quadrangle Club, served as class secretary, and was our first class president after graduation.

Mike’s entire working career was with the family firm, J.M. Huber Corp., and was interrupted only by service in the Air Force during the Korean War. He started as an engineer and progressed to CEO and chairman of the board of this diversified enterprise, which was engaged in natural resources, chemical manufacturing, and electronics-manufacturing services.

Mike was board chairman of the Pinelands (N.J.) Preservation Alliance, vice chairman

of the New Jersey chapter of the Nature Conservancy, and president of the American Littoral Society. He also served on the advisory councils of the College of the Atlantic and the Princeton Environmental Institute.

Mike is survived by his wife, Caroline; a daughter, Eleanor; four sons, Hans, Michael, Joseph, and Samuel ’81; and 12 grandchildren. The class joins them in grieving the loss of this fine gentleman who devoted much of his life to being an advocate for a more sustainable world.
