After serving in the Army during the war, Abe married Mary Elizabeth Joseph in 1946 in Harrisburg, where they lived until moving to Camp Hill, Pa. They eventually moved to Bethany Village, a nursing home in Mechanicsburg, Pa. Sadly, Mary died in 2007 and Abe left us March 16, 2009. The couple did not have any children.

While in Harrisburg, Abe was well respected as a community leader. For years he helped lead the Rotary Club and the Symphony Association. He was a 50-year member of Masonic Preservation Lodge #21, a member of the Harrisburg Consistory and the Zembo Temple, and president of the board of Pine Street Presbyterian Church.

Abe’s survivors include his sister-in-law, Margaret J. Hinkle; two nephews, Samuel F. Hinkle Jr. ’59 and James E. Hinkle; and a niece, Tory Fretz. We send them our sincerest sympathy.
