John entered Princeton from Morristown High School with Don Malehorn, Bill Pritchard, and Bill Starrett. After graduation he entered Georgetown University Law School but withdrew following his marriage to Patricia “Patty” Buckley in 1954 and the birth of their first child, Stephen. He enlisted for two years in the Army to ensure having the money needed to complete law school. Following a tour in Korea and separation from the Army in 1957, John completed his studies at Santa Clara University Law School.

After graduation John spent three years with a law firm in San Jose. He became self-employed in the general practice of law, with emphasis on real property and corporate matters. In the latter he was greatly supported by his wife.

John served Princeton by assisting in several Annual Giving campaigns and interviewing candidates for admission to the University. He was also vice president of the Sierra Club and a member of the Santa Clara County Barristers Club.

Patty died in 1996. John is survived by his children, Stephen, Mary, and Barbara, and seven grandchildren, to whom the class extends deepest sympathy.
