Bob Long, a St. Mark’s classmate and fellow Key and Seal clubmate, who roomed for four years with Ed at Princeton, remembers him as a congenial and always-busy individual. Ed majored in English with the Program in American Civilization, did advanced study in Yale School of Drama’s technical design program, and was with the Army’s television center during the Korean conflict.

His lighting systems for the Mirage, Caesar’s Palace, Treasure Island, and the Bellagio in Las Vegas brought him national recognition. He won many awards as a lighting consultant and was a founding member of the U.S. Institute for Theater Technology. An ardent reader, he took great pleasure in books, life, and being with his family.

Ed is survived by his wife, the former Kim White; son Erik; daughters Heather Curtis and Holly; and five grandchildren. His convivial personality will be missed by all who knew him.
