He was born in Lewisburg, W. Va., Aug. 14, 1910. He grew up in Hot Springs, Va., and received his early education at Miss Noera’s School. He came to Princeton from Woodberry Forest School, where he played tennis and swam.
After graduation, he attended the Medical College of Virginia and became a urologist. From 1940 until 1985, he practiced in Richmond, where he was attending urologist at Stuart Circle Hospital, assistant clinical professor in the division of surgery at MCV, and on the staff of several other Richmond hospitals.
In later years, he was attached to the Virginia Urology Center. He was a diplomate of the American Board of Urology and held membership in several other national and local medical associations.
Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife of 68 years, Viola Marguerite Boleyn Pole. He is survived by his son, Frank Lanier Pole; his daughter, Anne Boleyn Pole; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
