Born in Trenton, N.J., Archie came to Princeton from Rancocas Valley Regional High School. He majored in history and dined at Dial Lodge, where he perfected his billiards game. His sophomore roommates included Tom Dunn, Charles Shorter, Richard Arden, Don Hayward, and Mike Kingston. Archie left Princeton after his junior year, earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from UC Davis. Although he pursued a doctorate in history, he did not complete his dissertation.

His early work included drug-abuse counseling, cardiac rehabilitation, and educational-foundation development. He also was director of Planned Parenthood of Snohomish County, Wash. When he retired in 2007 after 19-plus years at Boeing, he was an executive trainer and senior staff adviser.

Archie was president of Mukilteo’s library board and the board of the Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle. A sailor who built wooden boats, he was on Boeing’s 787 development team. His friends remember him as a scholar with a terrific sense of humor.

The class extends condolences to his widow, Joanne; his daughter, Lysa; and son, Tyler. His sister, NaDean Wristbridge, offered exceptional care during his illness.
