He prepared at Gilman School and Deerfield Academy. At Princeton, he majored in geology, played soccer and polo, served as rear admiral of the Yacht Club, and joined Colonial Club.
Bob served in the Army’s field artillery during World War II in all five European campaigns. He reached the rank of major and received the Bronze Star with oak leaf clusters, the Purple Heart, and various campaign ribbons.
After a period with Air Reduction Sales Co., Bob became executive vice president of Valley Metallurgical in Essex, Conn., and founder and president of Hart Metals Inc. in Tamaqua, Pa. He belonged to several technical societies, was a governor of Rockaway Hunting Club, and was a member of Cedarhurst Yacht Club, the Princeton Club of New York, and the Military Order of Foreign Wars.
Always an avid golfer, Bob and his wife of 62 years, Marian (Hodges), retired to play in Vero Beach, where he shot his age at 91.
To Marian; their children, Mimi, Bobby, John, and Charlie; and their four grandchildren, the class extends sincere sympathy.
