In between these military tours he graduated from Princeton in 1948 and married “Gini” (Alice Virginia) Vose in 1953.

After a brief sojourn in the insurance business, Nick joined a New York-based fuel oil equipment-distribution firm. Over the next decade he and Gini lived in a Long Island town that Nick found to be “over-taxed, overpriced, and overcrowded” and, increasingly, his business career became a “rat race.”

In 1973 they moved to Meredith, N.H. In this more relaxed environment they found a new vocation producing and distributing “My Mother’s Potato Masher” — obviously a product of merit because they found retail outlets for it in 49 states.

This family business did not prevent busy civic lives. Nick served on Meredith’s zoning board, as a trustee of its library (until Gini succeeded him), and also was active in the American Legion and VFW.

In our 40th yearbook, Nick wrote that their “greatest achievements” lay in the success and devotion of their two daughters and, eventually, in the rewards of two granddaughters.

Nick died July 20, 2009.

He and Gini marched to a special drum. Along with our admiration we send her and the family our warm wishes.
