Friends will remember Reed as an outgoing, colorful member of the class. He majored in architecture, sang baritone in the Nassoons, and was a member of Cottage Club, serving as athletic chair officer his senior year.

The adopted son of David Van Dusen ’51, Reed’s blood — and wardrobe — was orange and black. At Deerfield Academy, he developed a preference for worn-out loafers and an aversion to socks in even the coldest weather. Reed had a natural grace overall and a mischievous streak underneath, which was on display whether he was singing under Blair Arch, playing touch football on Cannon Green, or painting the goalposts in Providence before the Brown football game junior year.

After graduation, Reed earned an M.B.A. from Babson College, and worked for 20 years as a project developer at Weather Services International in North Andover, Mass.

Above all, Reed was devoted to his family. The class sends its sympathy to his wife of 26 years, Sally; his daughter, Regan; his son, Christopher; his father, David; and his large extended family. Memorial contributions may be sent to: The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Massachusetts Chapter,
