Butch Dye died Dec. 8, 2009, at home in Texas surrounded by his family, after a 15-month battle with brain cancer.

Butch came to Princeton from San Antonio along with five other classmates from MacArthur High School. He worked at Commons and the student pub, majored in statistics, and joined Cottage Club. He roomed with David Attarian, John G. Murray, and John Hayes.

After college, Butch returned to San Antonio and took a job at USAA, where he was named senior vice president and chief actuary. Over the decades, he played softball on the company team and developed a passion for golf. He was most proud of his two daughters and their accomplishments.

Butch loved to attend Reunions, laughing all the way. His longtime friend Carlos Ferrer recalled, “Butch was a man with the heart of a horse and an appreciation of friendship that defined the best of what we all experienced at Princeton.” During his illness, over 50 classmates wrote final messages to Butch, sending their support and recalling their fun times together.

The class extends deepest sympathy to his wife, Emily, and the family. Condolences may be mailed to Emily Yeager, 19110 Hornsby Lane, Spicewood, TX 78669.
