Gus was born Jan. 25, 1926, in Princeton, the youngest son of Warren and Lilly Hulit.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the 10th Armored Division, Army Tank Corps in Germany. Gus attended Princeton High School and the Hun School, and at the University majored in architecture, was active in Triangle Club, belonged to Charter, and roomed with Brad Buckminster.
For 35 years Gus owned and operated The Cummins Shop on Nassau Street, specializing in china, crystal, and giftware. He retired in 1987. His family members still own Hulit’s Shoes of Princeton. Over the years, he also enjoyed travel and divided his time between Princeton, Hilton Head, S.C., and Jupiter, Fla.
Gus was 83 when he died July 29, 2009, at home in Princeton. He was predeceased by his good friend, Robert Myers; his brother, Ralph; and his sisters, Clara Simone, Nellie Meyers, and Lillian Hall. His brother, Warren, and many nieces and nephews survive him.
