Grant Peacock died Feb. 3, 2010, in Redding, Conn. He was 86.

Grant was born in Garden City, N.Y., prepped at the Lawrenceville School, and entered Princeton in July 1942. He joined the Navy V-12 program and was commissioned in 1944, serving in the Pacific. Returning to Princeton, he graduated in June 1947. He remained in the Navy Reserve, retiring in 1963 with the rank of commander.

After graduation, he joined the retail jewelry firm begun in New York City in the 1920s by his father, Grant Sr. ’16. He became president and retired in 1989. His daughter, Kathleen, is now the owner of the three-generation fine-jewelry business.

During the many years he lived in Ridgefield, Conn., Grant was active in political, social, and Navy activities, as well as various sports.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jo Ann Rowles; six children, Christine Bauler, Grant III, Kathleen Benchley, Mary Jo Teetor, Frances Stanulonis, and Andrew; and six grandchildren.   To them all, the class extends its condolences.
