Eddy died Jan. 6, 2010, after a long battle with cancer.
He grew up in Philadelphia and came to Princeton from Phillips Exeter Academy. At Princeton, he was a member of Ivy Club and served as its president his senior year. He was a student writer for PAW’s “On the Campus” column and was co-recipient of the Pyne Prize for undergraduate excellence. He was awarded a Rhodes scholarship after graduating magna cum laude and spent three years at New College at Oxford University.
He worked at the United Nations as a speechwriter for Adlai Stevenson ’22 and his successors as ambassador to the U.N. He graduated from New York University School of Law in 1973 and then embarked on a career as a product innovator, first for Metropolitan Insurance Co. and then the Nationwide Insurance Co.
After he retired for health reasons in 2003, Eddy taught at Bryant University in Rhode Island and remained active in Rhodes Scholar activities.
Eddy is survived by his wife, Pheruze; son Harry; and daughter Olivia. The class extends its deepest sympathy to his family.
