Jack, who was with us for only his junior and senior years but who accomplished more than some of us did in four, died Feb. 10, 2010, in Norristown, Pa.
Born in Pottstown, Pa., be graduated with high honors from the local high school. He attended Dickinson College, where he attained more scholastic acclaim, and then was one of our few classmates allowed to enter Princeton as a junior. He plunged right in, joining the International Relations Club, Whig-Clio, and the Pre-Law Society. He also served as treasurer of Terrace Club.
In January 1953, Jack’s roommate, Bill Sutphin, left for military service. “You’ll never come back,” Jack lamented. But Bill did and graduated in 1957, and Jack was an usher in Bill’s wedding.
After Harvard Law School and two years in the Army’s Counter Intelligence Corps, Jack was an attorney in Montgomery (Pa.) County for 40 years and also served as the county’s court administrator.
He is survived by his wife, the former Anne Dunbar; sons John David Jr. and Peter; daughter Sarah Eisenstein; stepdaughters Anne E. Albert Bailey and Joan Albert; and six grandchildren, who have our deepest sympathy.
