The athletic wear may be out of style, but the move by Princeton’s Bob “Pookie” Pratt under the basket still shows how to block a shot. Unfortunately, the Tigers lost this 1947 contest to Army, 45-39. The venue may look familiar to ice hockey fans: It’s Baker Rink, the University’s temporary home court from 1945 to 1947 while Dillon Gym was being constructed. Jadwin Gym replaced Dillon as the home of men’s basketball in 1969. Partially visible at left in the photo is Princeton’s George Lawry (6), who, like the late Pookie Pratt, is a member of the Class of 1944.
