Charlie died peacefully at home Aug. 27, 2010.

Charlie entered Princeton in June 1945 immediately after graduating from Pomfret School. He finished freshman year and first term of sophomore year before enlisting in the Army. Returning to Princeton following his Army service, he graduated in June 1951. He was a member of Ivy, the Tigertones, and the baseball team.

Charlie earned an M.B.A. from Harvard and joined Morgan Stanley & Co. in New York, where he became a partner and member of the management committee. He retired in 1978, and then farmed commercially until 1987.

Charlie was married to Ann Frothingham from 1952 until her death in 1989. They

had two children. In 1990 he married Mary Elizabeth Carr, who died in 1999. Later that year he and Daphne A. Pontius were wed. During recent years Charlie was treasurer

of our class, and he and Daphne hosted Friday-night dinners for the class on reunion weekends.

He served on the boards of the Medical Center at Princeton, Trinity Counseling Service, The Evergreens, Collier Enterprises, Bunbury Co., Windham Foundation, and W.P. Carey & Co.

To Daphne and Charlie’s children and grandchildren, the class sends deep sympathy.
