Memorial Geoffrey L. Tickner ’52

Born in Buffalo, Geof grew up in Maplewood, N.J. He attended Maplewood High School and the Peddie School, where he played football and was head of student government. After Peddie he spent a year at Repton School in England as an exchange scholar.

At Princeton, Geof joined Cottage Club, becoming president senior year. He also was campus columnist for the Princeton Alumni Weekly. His major was in the Woodrow Wilson School.

Geof’s business career was in the chemical industry, beginning in sales with Sherwin-Williams Co. He moved up the executive track eventually becoming group vice president before leaving the company in 1977. After that, Geof was a management consultant before retiring for good in 1986.

He and his wife, the former Jane Rosch, moved to Sea Pines Plantation on Hilton Head Island, where he was free to pursue his non-business interests: golf, fine cooking, and reading history. His health held up well until the last four years of his life when he had to deal with a serious heart problem and then cancer. He is survived by Jane, a son and a daughter, and six grandchildren.
