Bob Caldwell died unexpectedly after suffering a heart attack Dec. 25, 2010, in his hometown of Lookout Mountain, Tenn.
A graduate of The Hill School, Bob majored in history at Princeton and was an officer of Cap and Gown.
Bob spent his life and career as an investment adviser in Chattanooga, Tenn., where he was active in community and civic endeavors, continuing his family’s philanthropic tradition. As a local newspaper noted, “Bob’s zest and his great love for his family were reflected in his compassion for everyone he met. He loved jokes and laughter and cherished many rich and deep friendships that reached from coast to coast.”
Bob was president of the Princeton Club of Chattanooga. Last April he hosted a picnic dinner for a contingent of Class of ’72 Civil War battlefield visitors. We cheered him and his father, Robert H. Caldwell ’45, marching in the 2010 P-rade. In November, Bob married Gina Rulon-Miller, sister of Todd ’73; they had met when Bob was at Princeton.
Besides Gina and his father, Bob is survived by his son, William McCormack Caldwell; three sisters; and five nieces and nephews. To them and to his many friends and admirers, the class offers its condolences.
