We would be most interested in talking with alumni interested in volunteer efforts to assist American prison inmates’ rehabilitation.

In 2007 we established the Petey Greene Prisoner Assistance Program in Princeton. This program is a 501(c)(3) and not funded by the University. This year about 50 undergraduates, graduates, and community volunteers tutor and teach inmates in two nearby state prisons. The inmates are grateful for the help given in basic-skills subjects, as well as toward their high school or GED degrees. The volunteers believe their experience is a valuable supplement to their Princeton education.

Perhaps some alumni would be interested in matching college student volunteers in their home areas with inmate education programs. If interested, please contact Jim Farrin ’58 at jfarrin@nyct.net.
