Poultry Science, Chicken Culture: A Partial Alphabet

By Susan Merrill Squier ’72
Posted on April 1, 2011

(Rutgers University Press) In this collection of essays, Squier uses chickens as a lens into topics ranging from art to biology and political discourse. She discusses why individuals are so interested in the chicken by exploring the ways people interact with chickens, be it through art, science, writing, or work. Squier is a professor of women’s studies, English, and acting director of the Science, Technology, and Society program at Penn State University.
