Lindsay died peacefully Jan. 11, 2011, at his home in Lowell, Mass. He had battled a number of maladies over several years. He was 75.
He grew up in Warren, Pa., and graduated from Warren High School, where he was student council president and active in drama presentations and service organizations.
At Princeton, Lindsay majored in religion and graduated with honors. He was a member of Elm Club and served on its bicker committee. His closest friends were Frank Elliott, Howard Boose, Stan Mandell, and Doug Freeth ’58.
Lindsay served in the Army for two years, surviving the rigors of Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.
His entire career was in retailing, beginning with J.L. Hudson Co. in Detroit. Later, he joined Duty Free Shoppers, where he was senior vice president of merchandising and traveled frequently throughout Europe and Asia. His final stint in retailing was with Syms Stores, and he managed two locations in Massachusetts until his retirement to Cape Cod and his longtime family home.
Lindsay is survived by his sister, Janet Goss; his brother, David; four nephews; and five grandnieces and nephews. The class extends condolences and good wishes to his family.
