Dave died Nov. 21, 2010, at home in Reno, Nev.

Born in Philadelphia, and coming to Princeton from Choate, Dave majored in English, ate at Dial, taught wrestling at the YMCA, worked in Theatre Intime, and was active with the Jamesburg Committee and the Student Christian Association. Intending to enter the teaching profession, he taught eighth-grade English at Princeton Country Day School in his senior year.

Dave embarked on a career in academe, teaching high school and coaching basketball, but was lured away, first by Household Finance, then Standard Oil, the latter relocating him to San Francisco, where he held positions in the credit, employee relations, and personnel departments. Several credit-department positions with several companies in various locations followed, until his retirement in Sacramento, when he began coaching at the YMCA and mentoring in the Sacramento Big Brothers program. He moved to Reno in 2000.

Dave loved African culture and wildlife and traveled there many times. He was a collector of African artifacts and fine art pieces. He also had a love of the ocean, and was a major supporter of the Scripps Institute of Oceanography and the Birch Aquarium in San Diego.

Never married, Dave is survived by two sisters, Lori Reineman and Nancy Warren. We have sent condolences.
