Two fireplace mantels, including the one above, will be rescued when the 120-year-old Osborn Clubhouse at 86 Olden St. is torn down in late summer. The clubhouse served for decades as an athletic training facility before it became the Third World Center in 1971 (later renamed the Carl Fields Center). The mantels will find a home in Princeton athletics facilities, said Sam Rozycki, senior project manager with the Office of Design and Construction. A pair of stone lions outside the building will be moved to a pathway to the west of the new Frick Chemistry Lab, and the ivy-covered brick wall at Olden Street and Prospect Avenue will be retained. Construction of the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment is scheduled to begin on the site in the spring of 2012.
