Tom, a medical-equipment sales executive who lived in Elverson, Pa., died Feb. 21, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Allentown, Pa., he went to The Hill School and followed his father, T. Carlisle Snively ’31, to Princeton. He majored in English, wrote his thesis on Dickens, played intramural tennis, squash, and basketball, ate at Cloister Inn, and roomed with Bing Powell in 1903 Hall. He played soccer his first three years.
Tom wrote in our 25th book that he and Jill had “built a pleasant life” in Pennsylvania, centering on family, travel, coaching, and tennis. He coached soccer and baseball for the North Coventry League; played competitive tennis and squash, winning tournaments in Pottstown and Reading, Pa.; sailed on the Chesapeake Bay; and enjoyed reading.
He worked in medical sales with McKesson and with General Medical Corp. in Middletown, the Harrisburg Health Center, and Foster Medical Supply in Baltimore. He also spent eight years in the National Guard.
The class sends its condolences to Jill, Tom’s wife of 47 years; his son, Thomas C. III; his daughter, Jennifer G. Pfeiffer, and her husband, Marc; and three grandchildren, Blake E. Pfeiffer, Katelyn S. Snively, and Jessica P. Snively.
