Gil died May 31, 2011, in Scituate, Mass.

Coming to Princeton from Blair Academy, he roomed with Al McCree and Bob Holzl, joined Dial Lodge, and majored in history. Gil joined the Army Air Corps, became a staff sergeant, and received the Distin-
guished Flying Cross in the China-Burma-India Theater. He graduated from Princeton in 1946 and married Marguerite Trimmer in October 1946.

While he attended New York University Law School for a time, Gil decided on a business career. He worked with Prudential Life Insurance Co., first in New Jersey and then out of Boston, where he became general manager.

Active as a deacon and then as a trustee of the First Trinitarian Congregational Church, he retired after 40 years. Gil was an avid golfer and a very good tennis player. He was remembered by family and friends for his keen mind, for his love of all New York sports teams and love of history, and for his rapier wit.

Marguerite died May 5, 2011. Gil also was predeceased by his siblings, Bruce and Richard. Surviving are his son, Jeffrey; daughters Sharyn and Carol and their spouses; and a grandson, Major Andrew Martin, and his wife.
