Harry Lamberton died April 14, 2011.
Harry attended Lawrenceville and was the third generation of his family to graduate from Princeton, following in the footsteps of his grandfather (1885) and father (1916). Harry joined Cap and Gown and performed with the Triangle Club. His Princeton career was interrupted by service with the Marine Corps as an officer aboard the cruiser U.S.S. Vincennes, which saw combat in the Pacific and for which he was awarded the Bronze Star. Returning to Princeton, Harry received a bachelor’s degree in geology magna cum laude and then joined the Ohio Oil Co. in Wyoming as a petroleum geologist. After 10 years, he left geology to run his family farm in Indiana. Ever eager for new adventure, Harry and his wife, Joanna (“Johnnie”), moved to Longboat Key, Fla., with their three daughters, where he rehabilitated and operated a marina. Beginning in 1973, they divided their time between Wyoming, Montana, and Sarasota, Fla. In 1998, Harry and Johnnie moved permanently to Grand Junction, Colo. Following Johnnie’s death in 2006, Harry moved to Durango, Colo., near his daughter Liz Anderson. His daughters Dare and Sara predeceased both him and Johnnie. Liz survives him, as do seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The class expresses its sympathy to the family.
