Ed died in Aug. 14, 2011, after a long battle with cancer.

At Princeton he majored in biology and joined Tiger Inn. His chief activity was baseball, and he roomed with John Wert senior year. After graduation, Ed earned a medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in 1961. His further studies were at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and the University of Florida in Gainesville.

During his internship at Temple, Ed met and married Sally Moffet, a nursing student. During three years in the Navy, their first child, George (“Eddie”), was born. Then followed twins Ted and Sean.

Ed’s initial work was at York (Pa.) Hospital. Eight years later, the family moved to Gainesville for Ed’s dual appointment as director of labs at Alachua Hospital and medical examiner for 12 Florida counties. Work became seven days a week, so Ed moved to one job as director of labs at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville. He also taught at the University of Florida medical and law schools.

Ed was known for his humor, wit, and views on life. He was fun to be around.

To Sally and their children, George, Todd, and Sean, the class extends its sincere condolences. He will be missed.
