After several years of inactivity, the Princeton Club of Hilton Head was revived Nov. 1, when Lisa *88 and Donald *88 Drakeman hosted a “rejuvenation party” at their Hilton Head home. About 100 Princetonians representing the classes of 1935 to 2015 attended the event, which featured a performance by the Princeton Footnotes. Scott Foster ’58, who initiated the club’s revival and was elected its president, said the group plans luncheons with speakers, seasonal parties, trips, and possibly joint ventures with alumni groups in Charleston and Savannah. ... Tara Dudley ’99, a graduate student in architecture at the University of Texas, won the Graham Foundation’s Carter Manny writing award for her dissertation that examines the architectural activities of New Orleans’ “free people of color” in the 19th century. The award provides $15,000 for research and travel. ... A Good and Perfect Gift: Faith, Expectations, and a Little Girl Named Penny, a book by Amy Julia Truesdell Becker ’98 about raising a daughter with Down syndrome, made Publishers Weekly’s Best Books of 2011 list. Also making the list was Boomerang: Travels in the New Third World, a look at the wreckage of once-booming economies in Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Germany, and the United States, by Michael Lewis ’82. Erez Lieberman Aiden ’02, right, a fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows and visiting faculty at Google, was named the 2011 grand-prize winner of the GE & Science Prize for Young Life Scientists for a method he developed for three-dimensional genome sequencing that reveals features of DNA structure inside the nucleus of a cell. ...
