Pat died Jan. 12, 2012, in Newburyport, Mass.

A graduate of Trinity School, Pat dropped his first name of Victor. He left Princeton to serve in the Navy, in which he became an aviation cadet. After graduating from Princeton in 1948, he studied at Columbia and became a security analyst and stockbroker.

Briefly married for three years, he had a son, Ian, who also became a stockbroker. Ian, who lives in Boston, noted his father was a prolific reader, loved sailing, used a pen to do The New York Times crossword puzzles, and attended six Princeton reunions, including his 50th. Pat and classmates Andy Jones and Sid Doggett became lifelong friends.

Pat is survived by Ian and four grandchildren, Lindsey, Hugh, Arthur, and Theo.
