Ken Scudder ’63 in his letter on “The quest for Mideast peace” (Inbox, May 16) is entitled to his myopia; I’m sure he comes by it honestly. What is more troubling is his ignorance of historical fact. The U.N.’s 1947 partition plan was in fact accepted by Israel and rejected by all of the surrounding Arab states, which then attacked the fledgling country. What’s even more disturbing is that the editors missed this glaring historical error and helped spread misinformation.
