Hank Miller died April 5, 2012, at Homewood Retirement Center in Williamsport, Md. He was 99.
Hank came to Princeton from Phillips Exeter Academy, and after graduating in 1934 was employed by the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. in New England. In 1941, he joined the Connecticut National Guard as a first lieutenant and accepted a regular Army commission after the war. Hank was awarded a Bronze Star and the Philippine Legion of Honor before his retire ment from the Army in 1962 as a full colonel.
He then was an account executive with Merrill Lynch in Washington, D.C., until 1973. He moved to Hagerstown, Md., where he volunteered with the Washington County Historical Society, the board of community concerts, and the Washington County Hospital Auxiliary. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown, the American Legion in Williamsport, and the Military Officers Association. Hank served as our class agent from 2004 to 2011.
Hank is survived by his wife, the former Esther “Winnie” Winroth, whom he married in 1938; his son, David; daughter Susan Miller Hunt Ferguson; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
