Dave died April 1, 2013. He lived in Webster Groves, Mo.

At Princeton, he majored in chemical engineering, joined Cloister Inn, and was active in interclub sports and the concert band.

After graduation Dave received a Ph.D. in 1962 from Lawrence University in Wisconsin. That year he went to work at Monsanto Chemical Co.’s St. Louis headquarters, where he rose through the ranks in research, commercial development, and marketing.

In 1958 he married Betsy O’Shea, and they raised their four boys, Gil, Randy, Kevin, and Pat. They divorced in 1980, and in ‘81 he married Mary Baetz and added two stepsons, Brian and Jon, to the family.

Dave retired in 1993 and began a teaching career. He wrote how he loved teaching high-school physics. He also taught seniors and tutored grade-school kids.

Sports were his great joy, especially tennis, golf, bicycling, and glider piloting.

The class sends its condolences to Mary and his sons. Dave was a most interesting man.
