Hugh died May 22, 2013, in Burlington, Mass. He was 77.
His love of Latin and Greek led him to Princeton, where he graduated as a member of Phi Beta Kappa and won the Woodrow Wilson Fellowship. At Princeton he joined Cap and Gown Club, was president and second tenor of the Nassoons, served on the Music Council, and was a Skeet Club member. He served in the Army and earned a law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Hugh spent many summers on the family ranch on the Salmon River in Idaho. He was a horseman, pilot, sailor, and fly-fisherman. He taught at Phillips Academy, Pembroke Country Day School, and was headmaster of the Wheeler School from 1968 to 1980.
In 1980, Hugh joined the law firm of Squire, Sanders & Dempsey in Cleveland and later worked in the Phoenix office.
To his children, Anne, Christopher, Hugh, and Heather, and 10 grandchildren, the class sends its kind feelings for this fascinating and accomplished individual.
