The University extended offers of admission to 1,939 applicants for the Class of 2018, 7.28 percent of the 26,641 who applied. The acceptance rate is a record low by the smallest of margins — last year’s rate was 7.29 percent.

Of those offered admission, 48.4 percent are women; 11.4 percent are international students; 49.2 percent of U.S. students self-identified as racial or ethnic minorities; 61 percent are from public schools; 13.8 percent are the first in their families to attend college; and 9.4 percent are legacies. About 37 percent — 714 students — were admitted through early action.
