Norris “Mike” Love died March 27, 2014, at his home in Winnetka, Ill., from complications of multiple myeloma.

Mike, a Chicago native, came to the class from Choate. He majored in psychology and was a member of Elm Club. Known on campus as the “Voice of the Tiger,” Mike was a four-year stalwart of WPRB and was the station’s sports director for one year.

After graduation, Mike earned an MBA at Stanford University in 1960. He entered the advertising world, working for two established firms for an aggregate of 12 years and specializing in marketing and product research. He then was asked to become dean of the nonprofit Lake Forest Graduate School of Management and contributed significantly to achieving accreditation for the school. In 1984, Mike founded a marketing and management-consulting firm, which he ran for 12 years before retiring.

Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and curling (where he skipped an eight-end — look that one up). He served on the board of the Chicago Zoological Society for 38 years and helped start the Lake Michigan Federation, which helped protect and preserve the ecology of the lake.

The class extends deepest sympathy to Marcie, Mike’s wife of 55 years; daughters Kathryn, Anne, and Sara ’89; and grandchildren.
