The following memorial was posted online with the April 22, 2015, issue.

John died Nov. 16, 1962.   He was born Feb. 27, 1934, in Newton Hamilton, Pa. After attending Mercersburg Academy in Mercersberg, Pa., he entered Princeton with the class of 1957. He withdrew from Princeton before completing his freshman year and joined the Air Force. He received a commission as a second lieutenant and completed flight training, after which he flew with the Strategic Air Command until the spring of 1958. He then re-applied to Princeton and was accepted as a freshman in our class. He also married Patricia Kay Smith. He entered Princeton planning to major in engineering, but again withdrew before completing his second freshman year.

Despite leaving Princeton, he maintained his interest in the University and our class; he contributed biographies to the senior year Nassau Herald of both his original class, 1957, and our own.

John and Patricia had two children, a son, John Raymond Jr., and a daughter. In 1963, his wife reported to the University that John had died in a plane crash. No further information was available to the class. When contacted by the class, John Jr. said he had very little knowledge or memory of his father.
