Les died June 7, 2001, in New Hampton, N.Y.
A native of Philadelphia, Les came to Princeton from The Hill School, but left us in his junior year. He rowed on the freshman crew and he was a member of both the glee club and the choir. Classmates remember his remarkable, professional-caliber tenor voice; he was a regular soloist in both groups. Les was majoring in psychology and belonged to Dial Lodge.
His entry in our senior year Nassau Herald states that he transferred to Temple University, where he majored in English and minored in drama. Officials at Temple, however, reported that they have no record of Les having enrolled there.
He was "lost" to the class from 1976 until his death. A paid notice in The New York Times said Les, by then known as "Leke 1," had been a member of the Screen Actor's Guild, Actors' Equity, and the Carpenter's Union Local 2090.
He was survived by two sisters, the widow of his brother, as well as a niece and a nephew. According to the Times notice, his life partner, Kaipo Daniels, had predeceased him. The anonymous writer of the Times notice said that Les "he loved life, fine foods, music, philosophy, physics, and people."
