Ed died Jan. 11, 2004, according to University records. The class has been unable to find out any further information about the circumstances of his death or his life after Princeton. As far back as our 20th reunion, he was listed as "address unknown." Attempts to reach out to family members have failed.
Born in Jersey City, N.J., Ed came to Princeton from Columbia High School in Maplewood. Even in high school he was a prize-winning writer. At Princeton, he won the Arts at Princeton Short Story Contest two years running, and also the Ward Mathis Award, given to the author of the best story submitted by an undergraduate. The winner is chosen by the chair of the English department. Ed's major was psychology and, as an upperclassman, he took his meals at Terrace Club. In our senior year Nassau Herald, he wrote that he "always intended to attempt free-lance writing as a profession."
