Published in Feb. 23, 1994, issue

WE LOST OUR CLASSMATE Wilbur "Bill" Hartshorn Oct. 3, 1993. He was born and raised in Bristol, Penn., before coming to Princeton. He earned his degree in English.

Bill lived a long, active life. After Princeton, he moved to N.Y.C., where he where he remained until his move to Chatham, N.J., in 1966. He began his career as superintendent of agencies at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. Later, he was promoted to agency V.P., responsible for marketing territories from the Northeast to the Midwest, a position he held for 20 years.

He was the husband of Helen Yates Hartshorn, who died earlier this year, and the late Nan Keenan Hartshorn. He is survived by one son, Wilbur W. Hartshorn Jr.; two daughters, Elaine H. Riley and Anne Little; a sister, Dr. Mildred January; five grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

His family remembers Bill as a man with a fondness for a good cigar, a passion for a good book, and always with the time for family and friends. The class shares these fond memories and salutes a life well lived.
